Gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter on Friday, a day after he was arrested while trying to flee from the custody of Uttar Pradesh police after the special task force (STF) convoy met with an accident on their way back from Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur, confirmed Mohit Agarwal, IG, Kanpur.
The incident took place around 7 am today near barra area at Kanpur. According to reports, as the convoy reached barra police circle in Kanpur, the vehicle in which Vikas Dubey was seated overturned due to skidding for the heavy rainfall on road.
Dubey, along with an STF sub-inspector and two constables reportedly got injured in the mishap. As soon as Dubey was taken out of the vehicle, he snatched a rifle form the STF team and tried to fire at police.
He was injured in the retaliatory firing and rushed to the Hallett Hospital for treatment, where he was declared dead said JN Singh, ADG Kanpur range.
