Its an end of an era, especially for the 90’s kids. The last active Indian cricketer from 1990’s Harbhajan Singh today announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He will also not take part in any further edition of IPL. Through his official twitter account, the famously called turbinator announced his retirement.
Harbhajan’s tweet quoted, “All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life, I would like to thank everyone who made this 23-year-long journey beautiful and memorable. My heartfelt thank you ? Grateful”
The veteran Indian player made his ODI and Test debut way back in 1998 but it was in the era of Sourav Ganguly Captaincy that Harbhajan rose to fame especially his record of 30 wickets in 3 test matches against Australia in the historic test series win against Australia in 2001/2002. He along with his spin bowling partner Anil Kumble was a nightmare for all batsman, especially in Subcontinent pitches.
In his career spanning for 23 years, Bhajji has taken 417 wickets in 103 Tests, 269 wickets in 236 ODIs and 25 scalps in 28 T20Is. Also he has taken 150 IPL wickets in 163 matches.
