WB: According to the residents, the firecracker factory where the explosion occurred created crude bombs

Crude bombs were being made at the illegal firecracker unit in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district, where a powerful explosion killed nine people on Tuesday, according to several villagers, including the wife of a daily worker who died in the accident. This is according to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which claims that Krishnapada Bag wielded power in the area because he was connected to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).”My husband was employed by a factory. There were crude bombs produced. He used to receive $250 every day, according to Suma Jana, the deceased Jayanta Janata’s wife, who spoke to media on Wednesday.

Another villager, Shyamal Maity, claimed that although the police were aware of the illegal business and the rudimentary explosives it was producing, they chose not to take action because of the factory’s strong owner, Krishnapada Bag alias Bhanu. “The police were well-informed. There were crude bombs produced. Nobody dared to criticise Bag in public. Anyone who used to speak out would face death threats from him, according to Maity.

According to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Krishnapada Bag held influence in the region due to his ties to the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is currently in power.
