The Odisha capital reported 215 more cases testing positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours which scored the tally to 2365. In Ganjam 484 new cases were detected which took to 8678 in total. Among, 439 active cases and 42 are recovered.
Over the last 7 days, an average number of 500 cases are detected in Ganjam every day and around 85 deaths have been reported till now. The day-wise COVID-19 positive figures of Ganjam between July 22 and 28 are 332, 491, 484, 560, 732, 540, and 371.
Even Khurda district with its mounting cases is still in a dangerous situation. The district has so far reported 3,572 positive cases of coronavirus out of which 1,997 are active ones and 19 persons have succumbed to death.
Even cases in Cuttack are also rising with each passing day. Around 1885 positive cases were reported in Cuttack out of which 777 are from Cuttack city only.
The number of active cases in the CMC area is 453 while the total active cases are 666 in Cuttack district. Around 11 people are dead due to COVID, out of which 10 are in Cuttack Municipality Corporation only.

With these numbers, the question arises that whether the State Government will extend the lockdown or will lift it in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Ganjam further beyond 31st July.
On 17th July observing the rising numbers in COVID cases in these districts, the Odisha Government has imposed a lockdown for 14 days period along with Rourkela. The Government made sure that the testing activities will be increased to contain the virus spread but still, the cases continued to rise in these districts during this lockdown period.

So far 28107 cases in Odisha make it on 15 rankings in the list of States in terms of total COVID-19 positives cases. The active cases in State are 9857 and the total number of deaths is 154 so far.
So far it is expected that the lockdown may extend in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Ganjam area after 31st July as it will help the authority to check on community transmission and test as many people required.
