Donald Trump has unveiled his plan for a major overhaul of the U.S. tax system, emphasizing a shift away from taxing American citizens to benefit foreign nations. Speaking to House Republicans at a retreat in Florida on Monday, the U.S. president pledged to impose aggressive tariffs on countries he claims are damaging America’s economy. Trump singled out nations like China and India for their high tariffs, vowing to take action against those that “harm” the U.S.
“We’re going to put tariffs on foreign countries and individuals who really mean harm to us,” Trump declared, reinforcing his “America First” economic agenda. He criticized countries like China, India, and Brazil, accusing them of benefiting at the expense of the American workforce. “Look at what others do. China is a tremendous tariff maker, and so are India and Brazil,” Trump added, according to news agency PTI.
Trump also outlined his vision for a new economic model, where the U.S. would no longer tax its own citizens to enrich foreign nations. Instead, he proposed using tariffs and taxes to target foreign countries, aiming to benefit American citizens and businesses.
