Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum in his remarks during the opening of the convention hall at Pragati Maidan. The envisioned museum, according to Prime Minister Modi, would display India’s broad and varied history and be the largest museum in the world. The Sanskrit phrase Yuge Yugeen Bharat, which translates to “everlasting India,” perfectly expresses the enduring character of the nation’s past.
According to reports, the museum will cover a vast area of over 1.17 lakh square metres and include 950 rooms spread out over a basement, ground floor, and two additional storeys. The museum will be located in the North and South Blocks, which are adjacent to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Their transformation into a museum represents a turn towards celebrating India’s extensive cultural legacy in public. These iconic Blocks, which Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker built in the 1930s and have long been the centre of Indian governance, contain the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and other significant departments. The Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum aims to capture 5,000 years of Indian history. The magnificence of various eras, vibrant cultures, flora, and animals, as well as the outstanding intellectual accomplishments of Indians, will be highlighted.
