100% Staff Fired In 2 Minutes On Google Meet Call

A US startup has let go of every employee. As bizarre as it may sound, this actually occurred earlier this week at Frontdesk, a management company for over a thousand furnished apartments in the US. The way the dismissal was handled was even stranger. Jesse DePinto, co-founder and CEO, gave a two-minute Google Meet call to staff members to announce the decision.

According to TechCrunch, the company employed 200 people. Attending the virtual meeting, one of the fired employees revealed to the website that DePinto told the staff that FrontDesk’s inability to secure additional funding was the reason for the layoffs. The CEO was cited as saying that contractors and part-timers were also affected by the job cuts. According to DePinto, the business will pursue state receivership as a substitute for bankruptcy.

A recording that plays when you call the number listed on the company’s website states that Frontdesk is not available at this time. The report states, “If you have a reservation, please look for alternate lodging and anticipate being contacted within the next two weeks.” When Frontdesk was founded in 2017, it had raised $26 million from investors including Sand Hill Angels, JetBlue Ventures, and Veritas Investments.
