P. L. Haranadh: Driving Paradip Port to New Heights

In India’s fast-growing maritime sector, P. L. Haranadh, Chairman of the Paradip Port Authority, stands out for his simple yet powerful leadership style—focused on results, efficiency, and impact. Known as a man of few words, he has quietly transformed Paradip Port into India’s No.1 major port, proving that consistent performance speaks louder than anything else.

Under his leadership, Paradip Port has achieved over 150 million metric tonnes (MMT) cargo handling in FY 2024–25, the highest among all major ports in the country. The port has also maintained a strong profit trend, with surplus earnings crossing ₹1,800 crore, reflecting both scale and financial strength. Monthly performance has also been impressive, with over 14 MMT cargo handled in a single month, showing high operational efficiency. Looking ahead, the port has an ambitious vision to reach 500 MMT capacity by 2047, making it one of the largest ports globally.
But growth at Paradip is not just about numbers—it is also about people and inclusivity. Haranadh is known for being accessible and responsive to stakeholders, creating a culture of trust and smooth coordination across the system.
A major highlight of his tenure is the strong focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Paradip Port Authority spends over ₹8.5 crore annually on CSR activities, directly benefiting thousands of people in nearby areas. The goal is clear—development of the port must also improve the lives of surrounding communities.

In healthcare, the port regularly organizes free medical camps, cancer screening drives, and supports hospital facilities for workers and local residents. In the environmental space, it has planted over 5 lakh trees, along with initiatives for air and water quality control, waste management, and coastal cleanliness.

The port has also contributed significantly to community development, including building roads, sanitation facilities, and drinking water systems in nearby villages. Support for education, sports, and cultural programs has helped strengthen the social fabric of the region. In the past year, special focus has been given to peripheral and underserved communities, ensuring real grassroots impact.

For Haranadh, CSR is not just a requirement—it is a core part of growth strategy. His vision ensures that as Paradip Port grows bigger, it also becomes more responsible and people-centric.

Looking forward, his mission is clear—to make Paradip the largest, most efficient, and most sustainable port in India. With plans for green energy, modern infrastructure, and smart port systems, he is shaping a future-ready maritime hub.

In today’s world, where leadership is often loud, P. L. Haranadh stands out for delivering quietly but consistently—making him one of the most effective infrastructure leaders of our time.
