Operation against Naxals in Chhattisgarh: The confrontation is taking place in the jungle along the boundaries of the Chhotebethiya police station.The Border police Force reported on Tuesday that at least eighteen Maoists had been killed in a clash with police forces in the Kanker area of Chhattisgarh.The central police force stated in a statement that the BSF and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) jointly initiated a joint operation in the Binagunda region, which is under the jurisdiction of the Chotebetiya police station in Kanker, in response to particular intelligence inputs.
Eight Maoists were first declared dead, but Kanker Superintendent of Police Kalyan Elesela warned that number could rise while the combing operation continued.
The bodies of eighteen Maoists were found at the encounter location, according to a statement later released by the BSF. From the scene of the operation, three Light Machine Guns (LMGs) and seven AK series rifles have also been taken.According to Kanker SP, two security men were hurt during the gunfight.One member of the BSF who was shot in the leg is not in danger.
The fight against Naxal is still in progress.This development occurs just a few days before Chhattisgarh’s Lok Sabha election polls begin. In the first round of voting, which is scheduled for April 19, only the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency will cast a ballot. In the second round, which is scheduled for April 26, Kanker, Rajnandgaon, and Mahasamund will cast ballots together with other candidates. In the Bastar area, which consists of seven districts, including Kanker, 68 Maoists have lost their lives in various clashes with police forces since December 2023.
