A two-day climate change conference chaired by US President Joe Biden is set to begin. He called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the summit. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said the United States had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join the Climate Leaders Summit. The prime minister has accepted the invitation.
The two-day conference, to be held on April 22 and 23, will be attended by leaders from nearly 40 countries. The conference will be held on virtual medium for the corona epidemic. Of these 40 countries, South Asia includes India, Bhutan and Bangladesh. However, the US government has not invited Pakistan to the meeting. Biden is said to have made such a decision for Pakistan’s two-pronged policy on terrorism.
The purpose of the conference is to bring 19 countries together on one platform. These 19 countries contribute about 70 percent of the world’s growth. Now, these 16 countries and the rest of the world will come together to discuss ways to increase alternative energy or energy generation in the world.
The Biden government invited countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh to the meeting, while Pakistani President Imran Khan was outraged that Pakistan was not included in the conference. Wazir A Azam in Pakistan tweeted one after the other in anger at Biden’s decision.
Imran Khan is surprised that Pakistan has not been invited. His government has enacted the necessary policies to improve the environment. “His government is doing a lot to make the next generation of Pakistan a clean and green Pakistan,” Imran tweeted. The rivers in Pakistan have been cleared. Over the past four years, his government has taken steps to improve Pakistan’s climate.
Prior to the virtual conference, John Kerry, the US Special Envoy for Climate Change, will pay a visit to India. He will visit India from April 5 to 8. Recently, US Secretary of Defense Austin visited India. John Kerry is set to visit India as the second leader of the Biden government. Modi and Biden are set to meet for the second time at the climate summit. Earlier in the day, the two leaders met at a meeting of the Quartet.
