U.S. President Joe Biden has appointed Daniel Smith as India’s new ambassador. Biden also made the decision to increase cooperation between the two countries.
The State Department has said that Daniel Smith, the director of the Foreign Service Agency, will serve as the interim head of the U.S. embassy in India. For this he will tour New Delhi.
The post of US ambassador to India has been vacant since January 20. Biden was sworn in as the ninth president on January 20. Senate approval is required to be appointed to this position. Then there are the processes. Which is why the appointment of ambassadors is delayed. In the midst of the ongoing Karona crisis in India, the Biden administration did not want to leave the post of ambassador for long.
Ned Price, a State Department spokesman, said Smith’s appointment would maintain strong ties with the United States in partnership with the Indian government and Indians.
