Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s secretary, VK Pandian, visited several EKAMRA Project locations today to assess the project’s development. It is Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visionary undertaking. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik placed the project’s foundation stone on June 28 of this year. The EKAMRA development project was conceptualized in 2019. Following the evaluation, VK Pandian gave the order to the authorities to expedite the EKAMRA Project. He has pushed for an early start on certain project-related tasks.
It should be noted that the EKAMRA Kshetra Amenities and Monuments Revival Action Plan (EKAMRA) is a comprehensive strategy to recognize and preserve the historical significance of the inner core of Bhubaneswar’s old town through urban design. The ancient town, also called Ekamra Kshetra, is a livable historic city with a large number of temples, holy water springs, processional pathways, traditional priestly communities, and a variety of cultural events and traditions.
The Old Town area’s historic sites have long been a priority for the Chief Minister. He was the one who started the Ekamra Bana project and restored Bindu Sagar.
Pandian gave the agency the go-ahead to finalize all the detail designs, mobilize materials and equipment, and begin work on the link road from Taleswar to Kotitirtheswar road, box drains from Sanatorium Chhak to Taleswar and onwards, North parking along with the link road, and duct laying works along the outer access road after reviewing the work plan and schedule created by the agency. At the same time, public amenities have to be established on both sides of Purbadwar Chhaak, behind Lingaraj Haat, and close to South West Parking.
