On Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that 95% of the grievances filed at the CM’s grievance cell had been resolved. Majhi emphasized his government’s commitment to swiftly addressing public concerns in a speech to the media following the 16th session here. “This platform is providing justice to common folks. Long-standing issues from different areas are being resolved. The public’s confidence in and interest in the grievance hearing process has increased as a result, and it will continue on a regular basis going forward, he stated.
12,748 of the 13,358 complaints submitted during the first 15 sessions have been handled, and the remaining complaints are being processed, according to the CM, highlighting the speed of disposal. Over 56,000 individuals have visited the grievance cell thus far, taking into account that complaints are lodged both individually and in groups (usually 2–10 people per petition). He said, “1,49,418 complaints have been received through the Jan Sunani portal, post, and other channels, of which 1,30,845 (88%) have been resolved.”
Majhi also outlined plans to make the redressal system more structured by conducting hearings every Monday, three to four times a month, and extending the programme to additional venues across the state in collaboration with district collectors.
Initially, the Chief Minister met about thirty people with disabilities and others with life-threatening diseases. After personally receiving their petitions, he gave authorities the order to act right away. He then heard complaints from those who had been registered inside the jail. Additionally, Majhi approved medical care via the single-window system for three people who were suffering from severe illnesses: Deeptimayee Das from Cuttack district, Priyabrat Pradhan from Khordha district, and Papun Maharana from Keonjhar district. Majhi emphasized that the project seeks to promote a more responsive and inclusive government by encouraging more direct communication between the people and the government.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Drinking Water and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, and School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond were among the key politicians present at the hearing.
