Dengue Cases Cross 5,000 In Odisha

More than 5,00o people in Odisha have contracted dengue since the beginning of the year, as a result of favourable rainy weather conditions. According to Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra, 5,097 of the 68,610 samples that have been analyzed so far have tested positive for dengue. According to him, the Khurda district has recorded the most cases—2,133—followed by Puri (555), Cuttack (520), and Balasore (473).

According to Mishra, the time from July to October is regarded to be the peak season for vector-borne disease, which is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. He stated that the number of dengue cases is unlikely to decrease as long as the rains persist. He claimed that the only way to stop its spread is through prevention in light of this. He gave the populace advice on how to maintain a clean, sanitary home and neighbourhood.

Mishra stated that there was no need for concern, adding that prompt treatment may cure up to 98% of dengue cases. The patient’s decreased platelet count as a result of the illness is not cause for concern. Even if the patient’s platelet count falls to 20,000, they can recover with the proper care and advice from their doctors.
