Odisha CM starts disbursing funds under ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme

On October 10, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik formally started allocating cash for panchayat development in the State, three months after the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha plan, which has been branded a pre-election sop, was approved by the Odisha Cabinet.

297 gram panchayats in the Keonjhar district’s six Assembly seats will get 148.50 crore from the state government, and 218 gram panchayats in the Bhadrak district would receive 109 crore. 6,794 gram panchayats would be built across the whole state of Odisha at a cost of 3,397 crore. Up to 90,723 projects might be started using the money. Each panchayat is eligible for 50 lakh rupees. The project’s price ranges from 2.5 lakh to 10 lakh.

“Under the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha programme, the Jagannath culture will be preserved in villages. All temples and religious places will be developed. It is necessary to preserve these centres of culture and tradition for our future generation,” said Mr. Patnaik.

According to the chief minister of Odisha, efforts are being made to upgrade the digital infrastructure in each village, which would pave the way for the construction of a scientific park, a job center, and banking services. This initiative will also include elementary schools. Sources claim that the distribution of cash under “Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha” and its execution will assist maintain the momentum till both the Assembly and general elections that are expected to take place next year.

Additionally, steps would be done to improve rural infrastructure, which would speed economic growth. But the bulk of gram panchayat project proposals were for the construction of temples.
