The 2.78 crore women voters in the state are a group that the BJP’s poll strategists in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are very optimistic about. The Indian electoral trend has been noted by both the BJP and the Congress. Not only do women vote more frequently than men do (as seen by the 2019 Lok Sabha polls), but they also form a significant and prominent voting bloc. According to recent opinion polls, a sizable percentage of female voters may have already chosen their candidates, regardless of the views of the males in their homes.
In political circles, the BJP’s earlier Madhya Pradesh efforts, including ladli behna, which intended to help over 10 million marginalised women, have been heralded as possible “game changers.” In addition, the BJP’s future pledges appear to have attracted the interest of female voters, which may have encouraged them to support the party in spite of the general anti-incumbency feelings directed against the Congress.Rajasthan has a history of having new leaders every five years, and this tendency is expected to continue. Women in the state undoubtedly play a significant role, and safety is their top priority—something that hasn’t been given much attention in the last three to four years.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh is expected to succeed despite similar promises from the Congress and even the AAP. The party has committed to building concrete homes for all Ladli Behna beneficiaries, which exceed 1.3 crore in the state, and increasing the financial assistance under the Ladli Laxmi scheme to Rs 2 lakh. The party has also included an LPG cylinder in its manifesto.
The Congress party’s sole objective is to maintain or even grow its vote share in Chhattisgarh and BRS in Telangana, as these elections lay a significant groundwork for the Lok Sabha Polls that will take place the following year.
