Odisha Bags Two National Awards For Sanitation

At today’s prestigious Annual India Sanitation Coalition (ISC)-FICCI Sanitation Awards ceremony in New Delhi, Odisha was the recipient of two National level Awards. Meghna Sahoo, President of Transgender Swikruti SHG, which oversees the Faecal Sludge Septage Plant (FSTP) at Basuaghai in Bhubaneswar, won in the Women Changemakers in Sanitation category. The Housing and Urban Development Department’s “Garima” program, which aims to protect the safety, dignity, and welfare of Core Sanitation Workers (CSWs), was recognized as the “Best Skilling Initiative in Sanitation.”

Along with the awardees, senior H&UDD government officials attended the New Delhi ceremony. Since 2019, Odisha has been the recipient of numerous awards at the ISC-FICCI Awards for various sanitation-related initiatives.

The ISC-FICCI Sanitation Awards are the most important accolades in the sanitation industry, having established their leadership at the national level for more than six years. Over the years, these awards have been essential in supporting the initiatives of corporations, banks, start-ups, NGOs, government agencies, and numerous other groups and people working to improve the state of sanitation in our nation.
