Odisha’s Kendrapada District Declares Dry Day On Jan 17 & 22

The Odisha Kendrapada district authorities have proclaimed January 17 and 22 as dry days in response to demands from the Congress and BJP.

All liquor stores in the district will be closed on January 17 in honor of the opening of Sri Mandir Parikrama Prakalpa in Puri and on January 22 in honor of the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, according to a notice released by Kendrapada collector Amrit Ruturaj on Tuesday. Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and prominent BJP figure Jaya Narayana Mishra also urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to declare January 22 as a public holiday on Tuesday.

In anticipation of the opening of the heritage corridor project at Puri’s Jagannath temple on January 17, the state government has already announced a public holiday.
