At least 36 flamingos were killed on Monday night over the Laxmi Nagar area of Pantnagar in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar after an Emirates aircraft struck them. According to forest officials, 36 flamingo bodies were discovered in an area close to Ghatkopar, and a search has been launched to see if there are more bodies. HT was informed by an airport source in Mumbai that at 9:18 p.m., Emirates flight EK 508 reported a bird hit upon arrival. The aircraft, however damaged, made a safe landing at the Mumbai airport.
According to SY Rama Rao, additional chief conservator of forests (Mangrove protection cell), 36 flamingo corpses have been discovered in this location, and a search has been initiated to determine whether any more flamingos have been slain. He claimed that a flight had struck them and that other flamingos were reported to have been impacted.Deepak Khade, deputy conservator for the mangrove conservation cell, stated, “We have confirmation from the airport authorities regarding the bird strike. Near Laxmi Nagar, which lies at the northern end of Ghatkopar East, this has occurred.
Range forest officer Prashant Bahadure of the Mangrove Protection Cell stated, “I went to the airport, but they wouldn’t let me in. We have been informed by the airport authorities that an Emirates flight struck these flamingos. Our team arrived on the scene at 9:15 p.m. after receiving a call from the locals, who stated that the event may have occurred between 8:40 and 8:50 p.m.
