A test analysis has shown that the laddoos that are served as prasad to devotees at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh contain fish oil and animal fats. The previous YSR Congress (YSRCP) government was accused by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of using animal fat and inferior ingredients to make Tirupati laddoo.
Currently, samples of the ghee used to make Tirupati laddoos were found to contain foreign fat, including palm oil, fish oil, beef tallow, and lard (obtained by rendering the fatty tissue of a pig). This information was obtained from a report by NDDB CALF, a private laboratory focused on testing animal feed, milk, and milk products. Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy, the spokesperson for the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), published a copy of the study.
“The lab reports of samples certify that beef tallow and animal fat – lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of ghee which was supplied to Tirumala and also the S value is only 19.7,” Reddy stated.
