Odisha Cancels Leave Of All Government Employees In View Of Cyclone- Dana

In light of the potential storm over the Bay of Bengal on October 23, the Odisha government on Sunday canceled all staff leaves. “Leaves of all state government employees have been cancelled in view of the possible cyclone,” Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Singh said to the media on Sunday evening following a high-level meeting to examine the situation ahead of the storm. It has been instructed that all staff members stay at their assigned locations and carry out their responsibilities until further notice.

Singh stated, “We are yet to decide on the closure of educational institutions in light of the impending cyclonic storm,” in response to a query. The District Collectors, however, are able to accept a call given the circumstances. The development of a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal is expected to occur around October 23, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). By October 24 in the morning, it is probably going to continue northwestward and arrive in the northwest Bay of Bengal off the shores of West Bengal and Odisha.

Under its impact, the wind speed along the coast of Odisha may reach 40–50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph starting on October 23 evening, and by October 24 night, it will have reached a speed of 100–120 kmph.
