Tigress Zeenat To Be Brought Back To Similipal Reserve Through Tranquilization

Tigress Zeenat, currently roaming in Jhargram forest in West Bengal, will be brought back to Similipal reserve by tranquilization. Prakash Chand Gogineni, Field Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve, reported that Zeenat is traveling throughout West Bengal, with the Odisha and West Bengal forest authorities watching it round the clock. According to reports, Zeenat is healthy, and attempts are being made to tranquilize it in order to restore it.

Zeenat, a native of Maharashtra, was freed into Similipal before entering Jharkhand from the Odisha border. It traveled to West Bengal after several days of unrestricted wandering. With all the tools needed for tranquilization on hand, several teams from the forest departments of Bengal and Odisha are monitoring the big cat’s movements.

On November 24, Zeenat, a Maharashtra native from Tadoba-Andheri, was allowed to go to Similipal. It was discovered in the Chakulia area of Jharkhand after forest officials used a radio collar to follow its movements. It stayed there for around ten days before moving to West Bengal. In a same vein, the tigress Jamuna, who roams the Kuldiha refuge under the Similipal terrain, is in good health.
