MoUs Signing With Singapore Will Boost Investment In Odisha

Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, stated on Friday that he is confident the state would gain a lot from the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with Singapore in a variety of areas, such as green energy, semiconductors, green hydrogen, etc. “We have signed eight Memorandums of Understanding with the Singaporean government today in various sectors including industrial park, green hydrogen corridor, PCPIR, new city plan, green energy, fin-tech, skilling for future, and semiconductor,” CM Majhi told reporters following the MoU exchange in front of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam here on Friday. It will increase Singapore’s and Odisha’s bilateral trade, business, and commerce. Additionally, Odisha would gain a lot from the newest technology, semiconductors, and skill development.

CM Majhi added that Singapore and Odisha have a lot of potential for cooperation. He said that since taking office, the new state administration has been working to draw in investments in the port-based industries, IT, petrochemicals, green energy, green ammonia, and other sectors. In addition, the Chief Minister said that a number of roadshows have been done both domestically and outside to invite investors to the “Utkarsh Odisha: Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025,” which is set for January 28 and 29.

An MOU for the construction of the Industrial Park was signed between Sembcorp, Singapore, and the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO). In order to establish the Green Hydrogen Corridor and the Petrochemical and Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR), respectively, the IDCO has signed two more Memorandums of Understanding with Sembcorp and Surbana Jurong of Singapore. For the building of New City, the Bhubaneswar building Authority (BDA) and Surbana Jurong, Singapore, inked another Memorandum of Understanding.

In a similar vein, Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Odisha government agency GRIDCO and IIT Bhubaneswar inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on green energy research and development. In addition to this, memorandums of understanding have been shared for the development of skills in the semiconductor industry, advanced skilling, and the growth of the FinTech ecosystem. President Shanmugaratnam praised Odisha’s initiatives to promote innovation and skill development. As a token of the long-standing alliance between Odisha and Singapore, CM Majhi gave Shanmugaratnam a shawl and memento.
