TPSODL Prepares To Meet 780 MW Peak Demand During Summer Season

The joint venture between Tata Electricity and the Government of Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPSODL), has cranked up its preparation for an uninterrupted and dependable electricity supply in line with projections and predictions regarding an intense heatwave this summer. The corporation, which anticipates a peak demand of 780 MW this summer, has led enormous technological advancements that will enable it to handle the demands.

Utilizing technology, TPSODL can now monitor and manage 102 PSS from its centralized PSCC. This makes it possible for it to quickly and effectively implement network adjustments in case of emergency scenarios. Additionally, TPSODL has included 9 lakh customers from the City, Aska, and Berhampur Circles under the GIS (Geographical Information System) umbrella. With the aid of ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), it is simple to locate customers and impacted areas and engage them in proactive communication.

Network expansion: In addition to routine maintenance, the business has added 239.4 Ckt. Km. of HT lines and replaced 302 Ckt. Km. of LT AB Cable that was undersized or in poor condition. Along with 155 No. of New VCBs, 45.3 MVA of power transformer capacity has been installed to the Old Primary substations (Non-ODSSP). In order to provide a constant energy supply for consumers during the summer, the business has also replaced 2,079 problematic DTRs and added 34.12 MVA of Distribution Transformer capacity to the network by enhancing DTRs. Other activities include routinely inspecting and maintaining distribution transformers (DTR) and power transformers.
