“UK Slams Security Breach During Jaishankar’s London Visit as ‘Completely Unacceptable'”

The UK government has strongly condemned the security breach during Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to London after a pro-Khalistan protester breached a barrier and approached his motorcade outside Chatham House on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson from the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) called the incident “completely unacceptable,” emphasizing that attempts to “intimidate, threaten, or disrupt” public events are not tolerated. While the UK upholds the right to peaceful protest, the spokesperson stressed that such actions are beyond the bounds of acceptable behavior.

The incident took place on the second day of Jaishankar’s week-long visit to the UK and Ireland. Protesters, waving yellow Khalistan flags, had gathered behind metal barriers across from Chatham House while Jaishankar addressed the audience inside. Videos posted on social media showed the tense scene as a protester, holding an Indian flag, broke through a police cordon and approached the minister’s motorcade. The man jostled with officers and stood in front of the vehicle before tearing the Indian flag. He was swiftly detained by the police.

India has strongly condemned the breach, with the Ministry of External Affairs demanding the UK government live up to its diplomatic obligations. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the incident a violation of the minister’s security and condemned the provocative actions of pro-Khalistan elements.
