Servitors of the Puri Jagannath Temple are undergoing a two-day training programme to improve their behaviour and conduct towards devotees. The training camp, organized at the Niladri Bhakta Nivas, aims to instil good manners and discipline among the servitors.
The initiative comes amid complaints from devotees about the behaviour of the temple servants. The training program, supervised by the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee and District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain focuses on ten key attributes of a good servitor, including dedication, purity, discipline, and selflessness.
The Puri SP, District Collector, and Chief Administrator officially opened the program. Discussions on the first day focused on disciplined policy, service, and the traits of a good servant. The second day’s schedule covers devotee services, the function of servants in regulated darshan, and administration-servant cooperation. It is anticipated that the training program would result in a beneficial shift in the servants’ behavior, making temple visits more enjoyable for devotees.
