Bhubaneswar: Odisha has taken a giant leap toward becoming an industrial powerhouse, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s ongoing visit to New Delhi yielding investment proposals worth ₹30,595 crore on just the first day. The strategic outreach is expected to generate over 48,390 jobs across sectors, signaling a new era of growth and opportunity for the state.
The two-day mission, aimed at attracting industry leaders and showcasing Odisha’s investor-friendly policies, kicked off with a high-profile visit to the HCL Technologies campus in Noida. CM Majhi engaged in meaningful dialogue with HCL Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra, exploring avenues to expand the tech giant’s footprint into Odisha. He extended a formal invitation to HCL to set up a major IT campus and university in Bhubaneswar, underlining the state’s readiness for large-scale digital and innovation-driven investments.
Following the HCL engagement, the Chief Minister held a flurry of meetings with leading industrialists at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. Companies such as Kiri Industries, Himadri Specialty Chemical Ltd., Chowgule Group, IREL, SLMG Beverages, Ruchi Soya (Patanjali), Inox GFL Group, Quant Solar, and others showed strong interest in expanding their operations in Odisha.
From these interactions, 14 firms expressed investment intent worth ₹3,000 crore, projected to create around 21,390 jobs. Moreover, 11 MoUs were signed, amounting to ₹27,595 crore, bringing in another 27,000 potential employment opportunities.
Day two of the visit is set to deepen Odisha’s footprint in the petrochemical sector. CM Majhi is expected to oversee the signing of a landmark MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for a ₹61,000 crore Dual-Feed Naphtha Cracker Project in Paradip — a transformative move poised to boost the state’s petrochemical capabilities and fuel industrial expansion. Agreements with Indian Strategic Petrochemical Reserves Ltd (ISPRL) and Petronet LNG are also scheduled.
This aggressive push to woo investors aligns with Odisha’s long-term vision of inclusive industrial growth, infrastructure modernization, and employment generation. CM Majhi’s engagements reflect a clear message: Odisha is open for business and ready to lead as Eastern India’s industrial engine.
