Owaisi Slams BJP Over Nishikant Dubey’s ‘Supreme Court Inciting Wars’ Remark

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following controversial remarks made by its MP, Nishikant Dubey, who accused the Supreme Court of “inciting religious wars” in the country. The statement has sparked a political storm, drawing condemnation from opposition leaders and distancing remarks from the BJP itself.

“You people (BJP) are tubelights… threatening the court like this—do you even know what Article 142 is? It was drafted by Dr. BR Ambedkar,” Owaisi said, addressing the media. He accused the ruling party of “fraud” and pushing the country toward religious conflict. “Modi ji, if you don’t stop such people, the country will become weak. The public will not forgive you, and tomorrow you may not even be in power,” he warned.

Congress leader BV Srinivas also took aim at Dubey, alleging that the BJP MP would not dare speak against the Supreme Court or the Chief Justice without backing from higher authorities. “For how long will you chant Ram’s name and stab in the back?” Srinivas asked.

Dubey, the MP from Godda in Jharkhand, had earlier told ANI, “The Supreme Court is crossing its limits. If everything has to go to the court, then what’s the use of Parliament or state assemblies?” He further criticized the judiciary for asking the President and Governors how to act on certain bills and questioned the court’s handling of cases related to religious sites.

In response to the growing backlash, BJP national president JP Nadda issued a statement distancing the party from Dubey’s remarks. “These are personal opinions. The BJP does not agree with or support such comments. We completely reject them,” Nadda clarified.

The controversy comes amid ongoing tensions between the judiciary and the legislature, with political leaders warning against inflammatory rhetoric that could deepen institutional rifts and social divisions.
