Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said on Wednesday that the Odisha government intends to set up five special fast-track courts devoted to handling allegations of violence and abuse against women. The program seeks to improve conviction rates in instances involving women and guarantee prompt justice.
“We have engaged with the Orissa High Court to set up these courts, marking a significant step toward expediting justice for women,” Harichandan stated.
The first five courts will be a prototype program, according to the Minister’s tiered approach. In order to improve access to justice, he continued, “our long-term goal is to establish fast-track courts in all 314 blocks across Odisha.” The state’s Law Department is moving on with plans to open 46 new courts around Odisha in simultaneously. To improve the judicial system, there are 40 Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) courts and six Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-JMFC courts.
In order to improve judicial operations, the Orissa High Court has also moved 54 judicial personnel around the state. Together, these initiatives demonstrate Odisha’s dedication to strengthening its legal system, giving prompt justice top priority, and successfully combating gender-based violence.
