Delhi is expected to see more rain and thunderstorms today, following a record-breaking May downpour that claimed five lives and caused widespread disruption across the capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for continued unstable weather, including heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning in several parts of the city.
On Thursday, the capital witnessed its heaviest May rainfall in decades, resulting in waterlogging, traffic snarls, fallen trees, and damage to infrastructure. The downpour led to tragic incidents, including wall collapses and electrocution, which took the lives of at least five individuals.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged areas, and follow weather advisories. Emergency teams have been deployed across key zones to manage any potential crisis and ensure public safety.
The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely, warning that more spells of intense rain may follow as the weather system remains active over north India.
