Baroda cricketer Shivalik Sharma, who was previously part of the Mumbai Indians squad, has been arrested by Rajasthan Police on charges of rape. The 26-year-old, known for being a teammate of Krunal and Hardik Pandya in the Baroda domestic circuit, was taken into custody on Monday following a complaint filed at the Kudi Bhagatsani police station in Jodhpur.
According to reports, a woman who had been in a relationship with Sharma accused him of engaging in physical relations under the false promise of marriage. The two reportedly met in Vadodara two years ago and maintained contact over the phone since.
Following his arrest, Sharma was produced before a court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
