NTPC Limited has announced the appointment of Shri Goutam Deb as the new head responsible for overseeing its operations across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the Northern Region Headquarters in Lucknow. Alongside this significant role, Shri Deb also holds the crucial responsibility of Executive Director (Project Monitoring), managing the progress and performance of all NTPC thermal power projects across the country.
Shri Deb began his journey with NTPC in 1988 as an Engineering Executive Trainee, following his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from North Bengal University, Darjeeling. He further enhanced his academic credentials with an M.Tech in Industrial Management from IIT Kharagpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from MDI, Gurgaon.
In a distinguished career that spans nearly 37 years, Shri Goutam Deb has held several key roles across Mechanical Maintenance, Project Construction, and Operations. His contributions have spanned across major NTPC sites and projects, including Dadri, Farakka, Kahalgaon, Unchahar, Patratu, Talcher Thermal, and the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) project at Barauni.
Notably, he has served in top leadership roles such as Regional Executive Director (Hydro), Business Unit Head at HURL Barauni, and Head of Project at Talcher Thermal, where he demonstrated strategic foresight and effective execution.
A veteran of the Indian power sector, Shri Deb brings with him a wealth of experience and a dynamic leadership style that is expected to drive NTPC’s Northern Region toward even greater achievements in the years to come.
