Trump Arrives in Israel as Hamas Releases Seven Hostages Amid Gaza Ceasefire Talks

Hamas has transferred seven Israeli hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross — the first group to be released under the ongoing Israel-Hamas ceasefire. The hostages’ conditions remain unknown.

Under the terms of the truce, Hamas is expected to release a total of 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for the freedom of more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. The remaining 13 hostages are anticipated to be handed over later on Monday, according to reports.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the released hostages “are on their way to IDF and ISA forces in the Gaza Strip” and said it is “prepared to receive additional hostages expected to be transferred later today.”

Uncertainty remains over the fate of up to 28 deceased hostages, whose remains have yet to be returned. An international body is expected to assist in locating them if they are not included in Monday’s handover.

As part of the ceasefire deal, Israel plans to release around 2,000 Palestinian detainees — including roughly 1,700 from Gaza held without formal charges and about 250 convicted for attacks that killed or injured Israelis.

Meanwhile, hundreds of aid trucks are expected to enter Gaza from Egypt to deliver essential supplies. Israeli officials said the number could increase to 600 trucks per day under the agreement.

Adding to the day’s significance, US President Donald Trump — who played a key role in brokering the ceasefire — arrived in Israel on Monday morning. During his brief visit, he is expected to meet families of hostages and address the Israeli parliament before heading to Egypt for a regional peace summit.

The next 24 hours are seen as crucial for maintaining the fragile truce between Israel and Hamas.
