The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has announced stringent austerity measures targeted at lowering fuel use throughout its activities in a major effort to address the continuing oil crisis. All departments have received strict directives from Mayor Subhas Singh to reduce oil use by twenty percent. In light of growing fuel costs and supply shortages, the mayor issued the decree, stressing the necessity of swift and coordinated action to guarantee sustainable municipal operations.
The CMC has made the decision to lower the number of operable cars in its fleet as part of the new regulations. Officers are expected to travel together in a single vehicle whenever practicable, and they have been directed to encourage carpooling. It is anticipated that this technique will preserve administrative efficiency while drastically reducing gasoline usage. The civic authority has banned the use of official cars on Mondays and other government holidays in an additional effort to save gasoline. This limitation will only apply to critical emergency services.
Speaking on the decision, Mayor Subhas Singh stated that the actions are required to serve as a model for resource conservation. “During this time, we must take the lead. He said, “Every litre of fuel saved will contribute to the larger goal of financial discipline and environmental responsibility.” All departments have been instructed to submit weekly data on gasoline use in order to monitor compliance with the new regulations, which will take effect immediately. It is the responsibility of senior authorities to make sure that these procedures are strictly implemented.
