India is all set to speed up the vaccination drive to cover the numbers by the end of this year. Now companies like Paytm, Infosys and MakeMyTrip have come forward to offer help.
As per the report, RS Sharma, head of the Cowin vaccination registration platform, several companies have sought approval to facilitate online COVID-19 vaccine bookings. Also among the 15 state agencies and private companies which have asked to be allowed to offer vaccine bookings are healthcare giants Apollo and Max, and online pharmacy 1mg.
RS Sharma stated that it will work in favour of India and the union of all the entities is better than just one individual platform. The government has relaxed rules to allow third-party apps to offer vaccine bookings and has taken back control of vaccine procurement from states.
Digital payments app Paytm has over 100 million active users while MakeMyTrip has 12 million users. They will give the portal free of cost and can also customize which is highly scalable.
Only 3.5% of India’s population of 1.35 billion has been fully immunised against COVID-19. Their popularity among the digitally bent section of the population will provide people looking to book their jabs with more options.
