For strengthening cancer treatments and palliative care in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid foundation stone for Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre and Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Centre & Research Institute in Bhubaneswar.

While expressing happiness over the initiation of the projects on the occasion of Rath Yatra, ChiefMinister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Smt Susmita Bagchi and Shri Subroto Bagchi for their philanthropy and noble efforts to create two world-class institutions in Odisha.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also highlighted that the cancer hospital will work on a cross-subsidy model & will now be 750-bedded equipped with latest technology. He expressed confidence that the centre will become a leading research institution & attract oncologists from across the world to serve humanity.

He also mentioned that the world-class palliative care would be free of cost and the institutions will help patients of Odisha especially the poor in accessing quality healthcare facilities and assured that Government will ensure early completion to serve the people.
