Sisirsaras is an annual ritual in the Odisha Cultural Calender. This is celebrated with much pomp and grandeur in Odisha. The national level Sisirsaras rural fair was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik through the virtual mode on Tuesday. The virtual mode was chosen because of the ongoing pandemic and all safety measures were followed. The SISIRSARAS is organized by the Odisha Rural Development Marketing Society (ORMAS) . The main purpose of this fair is to give the rural artisans a large platform. This also enhances the market linkage of rural producers among urban consumers.
The fair was held at Unit 3, Exhibition Ground and as many as 300 stalls were set up at the fair. The fair is expected to continue till January 6. Artisans from several handlooms and craftsman have represented their handicrafts. 20 small scale traders from other states are also participating to showcase their work. The fair had several stalls starting from jewelerry , artifacts and many others.
Amidst several other attractions , The koraput coffee stall grasped the attention of a lot of visitors. More than 400 self help groups have taken part in the fair , including more than 500 sellers.Fairs like these not only elevate the cultural identity of any place but also gives a sense of joy in several people.
