The launch of 5G services in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi signals the start of the use of the country’s next-generation network. The telecom operator revealed that it will roll out 5G services gradually at its annual general meeting (AGM) 2022 event earlier this year. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune are among the 13 cities where 5G networks will launch initially.
Within the next few months, the remaining Indian cities, towns, and villages will have access to the fifth-generation network, and within two to three years, the entire country will have access to it. The telecom department has auctioned and distributed 51,236 MHz of 5G airwaves to telecoms, generating a gross revenue of 1,50,173 crore for the government.
