The Orissa High Court’s division bench today affirmed a single judge’s previous judgment to regularize the employment of contract data entry workers. A petition by the State government appealing the single-judge bench’s previous decision in the case was dismissed by the division bench.
A single-judge bench of the High Court had directed the State government for regularising the jobs of the contractual data entry operators engaged at Lok Seba Bhawan, Directorate of Local Fund Audit, Gopabandhu Academy, Sub Registrar offices on an outsourcing basis within three months with all consequential service and financial benefits who had completed six years of service.
“On September 17, 2013, the State Government’s General Administration department issued a resolution that stated that contractual employees would be considered to have been appointed on a regular basis after completing six years, and a formal order of regular appointment would be issued by the appointing authority. We initially went before a High Court bench with one judge. Their regularization had been mandated by the single-judge bench. Before a division bench, the State administration has contested the single-judge bench’s ruling. The petition filed by the State government to overturn the decision of a single court was dismissed today, according to petitioner’s attorney Atul Tripathy.
