The Court accepted the offer made by the former IPL chariman to post the apology in reputable publications and on social media before the contempt petition against him is heard again on April 24.The Supreme Court censured former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi on Thursday for his comments made in social media posts criticising the judiciary and ordered him to publish an unreserved apology on social media and in local newspapers.The Court accepted his request to post the apology in reputable publications and on social media before the contempt petition against him is heard the following day, April 24.

After receiving permission from the Attorney General of India to bring a contempt petition against him, senior member of the bar Chander Uday Singh, the Court had requested his response on March 3.The Contemnor shouldn’t believe he is above the law, the Court said.Since the last hearing date on March 3, Modi had sent another tweet on March 30 that further harmed the reputation of the judiciary.Senior attorney Ranjit Kumar stated, “Even after notice of contempt is given, the contemnor has again tweeted and degraded the reputation of the Indian judiciary.
