A strong cyclonic storm Expected To Hit Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat

A powerful cyclonic storm is predicted to build in the Bay of Bengal and affect many western states of the nation in the next few days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather service predicts that the developing storm will make landfall between May 23 and May 27. Currently in its intensification phase, the cyclonic circulation is predicted to make landfall on India’s eastern coast before shifting westward. Scientists have issued a warning, stating that Mumbai may see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on May 28 if the storm does make landfall.

“Cyclone Alert: Intense cyclone is expected in Bay of Bengal by 23 May which is likely to impact Odisha, Maharashtra, and Gujarat between 23 and 27,” Mumbai Nowcast posted on X. Around May 28, heavy rain is predicted by models for Mumbai and Gujarat.

There hasn’t been a formal advisory from the IMD on this evolving scenario. On May 18 and 19, isolated areas of Gangetic West Bengal, Gujarat from May 17–18, and Odisha from May 19–21, heatwave conditions have been anticipated by the system.
