Anupam Kher announced on Wednesday the Hindi remake of the Odia film Pratikshya, which explores the dynamics of a father-son relationship. Anupam Patnaik, the director of ‘Pratikshya,’ has stated that this is a historic moment for them and the people of Odisha. The announcement was made during the International Film Festival of India, where Anupam Kher shared the dais with the Odia film’s team.
Anupam Kher has announced that he will direct Pratikshya in Hindi, in which he will play the father. He paid Patnaik a token signing fee for the film’s rights.
It is based on a short story by writer Gourahari Das and tells the story of Sanjay, a middle-class boy looking for a government job just before his father retires.
His father, Bipin, is adamant that he find work because the family is in debt, and Bipin has a terminal illness. Sanjay learns about the government’s compassionate appointment programme, in which a family member takes over the job of a deceased government employee. Sanjay, frustrated, waits for his father’s death only to discover his disturbing mind. It’s a film about family, specifically the complicated relationships between fathers and sons.
