Mumbai: India’s primary market is witnessing an exceptional surge in activity, with 30 mainboard IPOs launched so far in September 2026—the highest monthly tally since December 1996, when 33 issues hit the market.

Together, these IPOs have raised approximately ₹38,785 crore, underlining the strong pace of fundraising through India’s equity capital markets. A significant portion of the total comes from the ₹22,561.57-crore National Stock Exchange (NSE) IPO, one of the country’s largest public offerings.

The surge follows a relatively slower first half of 2026, with market conditions improving and a backlog of companies moving ahead with their public-market plans. The increased activity reflects continued corporate interest in accessing equity markets for capital raising.

With several more issues lined up, September’s IPO activity marks a significant period for India’s primary market and highlights the growing role of public markets in corporate fundraising.
