A fresh political controversy has erupted in Delhi after AAP leader Atishi accused Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s husband, Manish Gupta, of unofficially running the state government.
Speaking in the Assembly, Atishi compared the situation to rural instances where elected female representatives are overshadowed by their spouses. “We’ve heard of women Sarpanchs whose husbands actually run the administration. But this might be the first time in history that a woman has become Chief Minister, and her husband is handling all government affairs,” she said.
She further questioned whether recent power outages and rising private school fees were being influenced by Manish Gupta’s alleged involvement in governance.
The allegations sparked sharp reactions from the BJP, with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva slamming Atishi’s remarks as “insulting and baseless.”
The AAP’s claims have intensified political tensions in the capital, with questions now being raised about the transparency and accountability of the current administration.
