As the owners of these properties have been making thousands of rupees without making any payments to the corporation, the BMC has decided to take strong action against them. This appears to be the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) new motto for getting rid of unauthorised hoardings in the city. According to insiders, the civic organisation would take strict action by removing unlawful mobile towers and rooftop hoardings in various locations throughout the capital city.
As the owners of these properties have been making thousands of rupees without making any payments to the corporation, the BMC has decided to take strong action against them. The BMC has established a committee to perform a thorough inventory and take down any such unauthorised mobile towers and rooftop hoardings. “We will take action after engaging a company to clear such scrap. We are receiving complaints about unauthorised power connections as too, and we will act accordingly, according to BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange. Some corporators have praised the civic body’s decision.Mihir Rout, corporator of ward number 1, said, “The action of unlawful construction, hoarding, and mobile towers by BMC is welcoming.”Although the move has been favourably received by locals as well, many believe it will be ineffective because similar warnings have been given in the past. The majority of the unlawful rooftop hoardings and mobile towers, according to the locals, have also been put on the properties of various powerful individuals and corporate executives.
