In order to congratulate and engage with ISRO scientists working on the Chandrayaan-3 mission to the Moon, PM Modi travelled directly from Athens to Bengaluru. He also made an official announcement naming the location where the lander “Vikram” touched down on the lunar surface “Shiva Shakti Point.”
PM Narendra Modi declared that India will observe August 23 as “National Space Day” to commemorate the success of Chandrayaan-3 while addressing a group of ISRO scientists. He credited ISRO scientists with inspiring an entire generation and making a lasting impression on young minds.
He described the achievement of the Chandrayaan-3 mission as a “extraordinary moment” in the history of India’s space programme and said that “Tiranga Point” will be the name of the location where the Chandrayaan-2 lander crashed-landed on the surface of the Moon in 2019.
On the request of his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister travelled to Greece for a visit following the BRICS Summit in South Africa. The first Indian prime minister to visit the nation in 40 years was PM Modi.
