Nilamadhab Niwas, an affordable housing project for slum dwellers in the capital city, was officially opened by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The “Housing for All” policy of the Odisha government has guided the development of the project. The chief minister expressed his joy that the urban poor would now have access to their own homes as he gave the beneficiaries of the initiative the keys to their residences at the project site.
A wide range of necessities are offered by the Nilamadhab Niwas to improve the beneficiaries’ quality of life and well-being. The goal of this project is to provide high-quality homes at reasonable costs, democratizing homeownership and opening it up to a wider range of people. This project, which is well situated close to Care Hospital in Bhubaneswar, guarantees easy access to essential facilities like commercial buildings, healthcare providers, and educational institutions, improving the general standard of living for its occupants.
Of the 1200 dwelling units (DUs) that are planned, 960 have already been finished and sent to the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) for distribution. As of right now, housing units have been assigned to 455 beneficiaries; the remaining recipients are still in the allocation process. The project encourages a sense of togetherness and camaraderie among inhabitants by providing a dedicated community center for social gatherings, community activities, and educational programs.
In addition, a well planned business complex in the project area supports sustainability and convenience by meeting the varied demands of the neighborhood. With easy access to key roads and public transit hubs, the project ensures continuous connection and makes it simple to commute to the city center and adjacent areas for work, education, and leisure activities.
