Krushna Chandra Patra, the minister of food supply and consumer welfare, examined the availability of petroleum products and cooking gas in Bhubaneswar and gave the assurance that there is no immediate danger of shortages or price increases. In order to evaluate the current supply situation, the minister met with representatives of key fuel and gas distribution corporations, such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Adani Group, at a meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan.
The gathering was told by officials that household LPG cylinder supply is “completely normal,” with customers receiving deliveries on time following reservations. According to the minister, the public’s worries about a potential gas shortage have been successfully handled. Approximately 80% of the LPG demand in the commercial sector is being satisfied, guaranteeing that hotels and restaurants will always have a sufficient supply.
Patra reviewed the supply of liquid fuels and stated that the state had enough supplies of gasoline and diesel. Additionally, he made it clear that there is no sign of an impending rise in fuel costs and advised people not to fall for rumors that are making the rounds on social media. The minister emphasized enforcement operations, calling the recent recovery of more than 7,000 illicit LPG cylinders a significant accomplishment and issuing a warning that black marketing of fuel and cooking gas would not be allowed.
Patra gave oil marketing firms instructions to increase the supply of 5-kg LPG cylinders, extend the piped natural gas (PNG) network to more cities, and bolster CSR programs. Attendees included executives from gasoline distribution firms and senior officials from the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department.
