“New Odisha – Empowered & Progressive Odisha” is the goal of the state government, which is headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, according to Commerce and Transport Minister Tukuni Sahoo. Speaking at a news conference on the funding for her department, Sahoo asserted that the transportation sector is a sign of the state’s population’s growth, wealth, and wellbeing. The state government has placed all forms of transportation, including road, rail, water, and civil aviation, under the control of the Commerce & Transport Department in order to “materialise the CM’s vision.” According to Sahoo, the state government’s top aim is to develop the transportation ecosystem by offering reliable, seamless, and multimodal transport connectivity throughout the state and beyond.
The government is concentrating on improving rail access to all districts and robust port-led growth to make Odisha one of the strongest marine states in our nation. The state government is using a comprehensive approach with input from several stakeholders and industry sectors to lower traffic fatalities and injuries while enhancing regional air travel connections within the state.
In the Made in Odisha Conclave-2022, the C&T Department unveiled four policies to encourage private developers’ development of non-major ports and to ensure the seamless transportation of the Civil Aviation Section, Motor Vehicle Section, Logistics Section, and these sections. There are four of them: the Odisha Civil Aviation Policy 2022, the Odisha Motor Vehicles (Registration & Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF)) Policy 2022, the Odisha Logistics Policy 2022, and the Odisha Port Policy 2022.
