Death Toll Reaches 32 in Landslides in Himachal Pradesh

The death toll in Himachal Pradesh’s flash floods and landslides caused by rains since Friday night has risen to 32, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told the state cabinet on Monday. According to an official release, six people are still missing, and 12 were injured in the disaster. Thakur called a meeting of the state cabinet to express his sorrow over the deaths of 32 people and to express his condolences to the bereaved families. Following a visit to the flash flood and landslide-affected areas of the Mandi district, the chief minister announced that the state government will provide Rs 4 lakh to the deceased’s next of kin.Thakur stated that he has directed the deputy commissioners of the rain-affected districts to act quickly and restore the damaged roads, power, and water supply. The union government has been informed of the situation, and a central team will visit the state to assess the loss, according to the chief minister. He told reporters that when heavy rains lashed Kashan in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, village chief Khem Singh sent a message to a WhatsApp group urging residents to stay vigilant. However, the village chief and seven other family members were killed in a landslide, according to Thakur, who added that the administration would rebuild Singh’s house.The chief minister stated that their lives could not be saved, despite the fact that rescue teams had rushed to the village after learning of the landslide. He said it took several hours to get there because all of the roads leading to the village were badly damaged. During his visit to Kashan village, the chief minister met with Singh’s relatives and expressed his condolences.
